Tour Of Thrones! Fancy A Weekend Break In Westeros? You Can With A Game Of Thrones Themed Holiday

rd-tyrion-lannister-in-boat-game-of-thrones-kill-the-boy.jpeg

Hi, it’s me Skatronixxx! As boss of the site, I am on the mailing lists for quite a few PR firms in the country and although much of the content I receive gets me interested, none has piqued my interest more than the email that landed in my inbox yesterday.

Like the other 99.9999999999% of the country I am Game Of Thrones fans and have been since it started. Granted I haven’t read the books, although i would love too, running the site, working full time and being a dead to Skatronixxx Jr leaves little time for reading these days, but one day I will read all the books, I promise you my loyal visitors!

So what was the email and what does it have to do with Game Of Thrones? Well the email was simply titled ‘Tour Of Thrones‘.

The email goes to say that fans of the television series can visit every location from the latest series and still have change from £500. Sound good? Hell to the yeah!.

With rumors of the latest series being delayed amid contract disputes, weather issues and more. Fans suffering withdrawal symptoms can visit iconic locations that have been used for places such Winterfell, Braavos and Mereen.

The team at Voucherbox.co.uk have researched the cost of taking the ‘Tour Of Thrones’ themed vacation this summer. The vacation would take you to countries such as Northern Ireland, Croatia and Spain.

In Croatia, you can visit the capital Dubrovnik’s Western Harbour  aka King’s Landing and Dalmatia that was used as the setting for Braavos. If you fancy going somewhere a little closer to home (UK readers) you can visit Northern Ireland and in particular the Moneyglass Estate and Magheramorne Quarry, both in County Antrim, and Crossgar in County Down, where the scenes for Winterfell were filmed.

Fancy visiting where the sadistic Ramsey Bolton met his fate? That was also filmed at the Moneyglass Estate. I know that’s one place on my checklist for sure! What about the Iron Islands home of unlucky loser Theon Greyjoy? You’ll need to check out Ballintoy, Ballycastle in Antrim.

After going from Croatia to Northern Ireland, you’ll no doubt want to head back to sunnier climates and you can do that by going to sunny Spain in particular Faro De Mesa De Roldan in Almeria and Parque de la Artileria in Castellon,  otherwise known as the city of Mereen.

Mesa-Roldan-en-Carboneras

After leaving Meeren you can head to Castell de Santa Florentina that was used as the setting for Horn Hill, the family home of Samwell Tarly.

The PR team who emailed me then go on to say:

‘A spokesman for Voucherbox.co.uk who conducted the research, said: “With millions of dedicated fans Game of Thrones has given a huge boost to the tourism industry in Northern Ireland and across many other areas.

“Our research shows it doesn’t have to cost as much as you might think to walk in the footsteps of Jon Snow, Arya Stark or Daenerys Targaryen.

“With many low price flights and other savings available on transport such as trains and buses by booking ahead online it’s little surprise that many fans are planning their very own Game of Thrones adventure.” ‘

Want to know more? Check out the link below. Will you be going on a Game Of Thrones themed holiday? I know I would if I could!

Go, Go, Power Rangers!! I Mean The Order

theorder

Power Rangers fans rejoice! The reunion that has been almost 20 years in the marking is here!! No it’s not the uber gritty Power Rangers film that featured James Van Deer Beek, it’s the original, original (Sorry Tommy!)  Power Rangers starring in a post apocalyptic dystopian society, torn apart by civil war. Think Marvel: Civil War with Power Rangers and you get the idea.

The film features the original Red Ranger (Austin St.John), Blue Ranger (David Yost), Pink Ranger (Amy Jo Johnson) and Black Ranger (Walter Emanual Jones) with several other rangers and comedy relief duo Bulk and Skull even making an appereance. They have all grown up and are kicking ass minus the spandex and sadly the Megazords, although the lack of megazords is a dissapointment the chance to see some of your former childhood heroes beating the **** out of each other is too much to pass up on.

Will it settle the questions we asked ourselves when we were younger? Is the Red Ranger as tough as he thinks? Will the Blue Ranger wipe the smile off his face? Will the Black Ranger go kung-fu on everyone? Here’s a spoiler for you PEOPLE DIE and LOTS OF THEM. What former Power Ranger will stand tall and who will fall in The Order?

Directed by Supergirl choreographer David Wald, The Order is an agency  largely brought in to control a lawless society, where they find several of them ‘going rogue’ and you are faced with the dilemma of do you bring your former friends to justice or are the ones who broke away those fighting for justice?

Sound awsome? YES!! When can we see it, I hear you cry? Well you can’t yet! Noooooooooooooooooooo curse you Skatronixxx, why hype this film if I can’t see it?

It’s because the film is currently seeking backing on crowdfunder site IndieGoGo, atlhough it has reached it’s goal of $100,000 so the dream will become a reality, it will take take time and you can still contribute!

Want to chat with former Red Ranger number 2 Steve Cardenas? You can do it for a cool $75 or chat to the whole cast for $100!

SO WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!! Back the team NOW!!

You can support the team here or follow them at the following social media sites:-

PLEASE NOTE

** This is NOT a Power Ranger Movie and in no way claims attachment or involvement to Saban Entertainment, Lions Gate, Power Rangers, Fox TV, Nickelodeon or their network properties.  We are fans of POWER RANGERS, but this is also NOT an official Power Ranger reunion sanctioned by Saban or any companies in partnership with Saban.

A Finger Lickin’ Good KFC Comic?

KFC

So I woke up early this morning to an email from Skatronixx with the subject title KFC comic?. I thought I was misreading it due to me being barely awake, but no he was 100% serious.

Now the fact KFC has a comic book doesn’t necessarily shock me, it’s more the fact that DC publishes it. The first issue was apparently released last year (The Colonel of Two Worlds). I was totally unaware that this existed, so when reading the sequel The Colonel Corps (which is free on Comixology) I had low expectations.

The Colonel Cops is an all ages book. It uses the DC multiverse as it’s a backdrop for what I consider an unoriginal story. The Colonel of Earth one can only seem to remember one of his eleven herbs and spices for his famous chicken recipe after the Colonel Sanders of earth 11 arrived to ask him about it via dimensional travel courtesy of the flash. Earth 11 Sanders can only remember one different ingredient. They determine that the other Colonel’s in different realities know the other nine ingredients and must find them.

Some of the different Earth’s the Colonel’s travel to include  Kingdom Come (Created by Mark Waid and Alex Ross) and All-Star (Created by Grant Morrison and Frank Quietly). It was cool to see these worlds appear in the comic as its the only highlight of the comic for me.

I understand that this is a promotional comic for a fast food chain. It doesn’t change the fact that the story and dialogue are cheesy. I read one site call this the best comic book of the year. Really?  Unless you’re a diehard KFC fan, this comic will be forgotten quickly. Kids may or may not find it entertaining I believe.

While I don’t recommend reading The Colonel Corps, it is at least free. There are also dozens of other free comic options on Comixology, so please look the up as well.  So if you were curious about how they would do a KFC comic by all means check it out. If DC were charging a 2.99 or even .99 price tag, I would think of a better title to support.
