More Supernatural S12 Casting News

kara-royster_21

Pretty Little Liars alum Kara Royster has been cast in a guest role in the 12th Season of The Show.  She’ll be playing Alicia, a young woman raised by a witch that now does the whole saving people, hunting things gig with her brother Max.  Royster joined PLL in Season 6, and in the Season 7 summer finale they left her in a car crash … bloody and maybe dead.

Recently, the muckity mucks at The CW and The Show have announced that they’re still open to the idea of a spin-off of The Show, but aren’t planning anything at this time.  I’m paraphrasing here, but basically they don’t want to do anything that would take away from The Show.  I don’t see how Wayward Daughters would “take away from The Show”, but since that unicorn is still running across that beautiful open field, I hope they’re not going to trip it with a spin-off about Alicia and Max (yeah, I’m turning up my nose at that one just like I did Bloodlines).  In case The Suits don’t realize it… The Fandom wants Wayward Daughters, anything less is really just tripping that unicorn.

Royster has had other guest roles on shows like The Mentalist and Scream Queens before ending up on Pretty Little Liars.

With all the recent casting announcements, it looks like S12 is going to be one helluva star packed season.  Is October here yet?

Upcoming Booster Gold Film May Not Connect With Current DCEU Films

rsz_bg

The mastermind behind the current slate of popular superhero shows on The CW, mega producer Greg Berlanti, is working on a Booster Gold film. The only catch is that it seems the film wont be connected in any way to the current DC movie universe that started with Man of Steel.

Speaking with Vulture on the his experience working with comic book properties in both TV and movies he talked about a future project involving Booster Gold and where it falls in the DCEU:

“As of right now we have no connective tissue to those worlds,” referring to the current DC movies (Batman Vs. Superman, Suicide Squad) “It’d be a separate thing.”

The film has only secured a writer, Zack Stenz who wrote an episode for The Flash, and Berlanti is attached to it as a producer although he did express his desire to direct. It would be a strange move for DC to exclude Booster Gold from the DCEU. It would demonstrate a lack of confidence in the world building they have done so far. Greg Berlanti has done some excellent work on his TV shows so he should definitely be able to leave his mark in the DCEU. There was also a Booster Gold easter egg in Man of Steel. Even though Zack Snyder dismissed it as just something that would be cool to put in just for the sake of it there is no reason they can’t just run with it as well.

With the film being in the early stages of production things could change and Booster Gold could be making his way to the DCEU in the end. For now lets just thank our lucky stars they’re even working on a Booster Gold film.

The Flash Season 3 ‘Time Strikes Back’ Trailer

A new TV season is fast approaching and networks are releasing pictures and promos left, right and centre. The latest to do so is The CW with a new look at ‘The Flash’. Just to get you back up to speed, ‘The Flash’ Season 2 ended with Barry travelling back in time to save his mother, effectively erasing everything that had happened since the show began, and creating the ‘Flashpoint’ paradox that fans are so hyped for; that The CW is using to drive the promotion behind this latest series.

What’s interesting about this latest trailer is that it seems Barry wastes no time in revealing this is not the timeline he’s used to. Those behind the show have said that ‘Flashpoint’ would not last long, but it seems the weight of Barry’s actions have him in a great rush to fix the damage he’s caused.

The trailer further hints at how characters have changed, with Cisco in particular an all together different character. What’s interesting is that it appears he owns Star Labs. Given Dr Wells shouldn’t be dead in this timeline it will be intriguing to see how this plays out. Generally with time travel in TV shows though, it’s best not to try to make sense of things too much. You’re just asking for a headache otherwise.

‘The Flash’ Season 3 premieres Tuesday, October 4th 8pm on The CW.

Supernatural Brings Back a Fan Favorite

aaron_bass

Remember Aaron Bass?  If you said no… Shame on you!  He’s one of my favorite SPN secondary characters… and I just love Adam Rose.   He appeared in 8.13 Everybody Hates Hitler.  Need a refresher?  Okay… sure… I’ll help ya out…

Nobody gets Dean that flustered…Ever.  I was ecstatic to hear the news today (thanks Mireille!) that Adam Rose was coming back to The Show to play our favorite Hitler hating, golum owning, bacon loving Jew.

bacon

I mean, there’s been whispers and hints, but I wasn’t sure how they were going to do it… you know, bring Adam back.  But apparently, the writers are even more creative than we thought.  Aaron is coming back to help Sam and Dean fight Hitler again in episode 5 of the new season that starts October 13th on The CW.  I just hope he brings his golum too.

Rose has made appearances on other television shows like Bones, Castle, NCIS: New Orleans, and IZombie, and was a regular on Veronica Mars.  I’ve even seen him recently in some really cute yogurt commercials.  Adam is also a very talented vlogger!  You should check out his YouTube channel here.

With every little sneak peek they give us, I get more and more excited for Season 12…and Hellatus seems longer and longer.  Quick someone remind me how many more days til October 13th.

Katie Cassidy To Appear Regularly On Arrow Season 5?

kc-arrow

Katie Cassidy (Arrow, Supernatural) said at Salt Lake City Comic-Con that she would be appearing in Arrow‘s season 5 premiere “Legacy”. She has also made it very clear to those present that she is more than likely to appear in the other CW DC Comics shows (The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl). She has recently signed a contract that allows her to do so. She is one of the few, besides John Barrowman (Arrow, Dr. Who, Torchwood) and Wentworth Miller (Legends of Tomorrow, Prison Break), to have received such a contract.

Since Laurel Lance and therefore the Black Canary were killed during the battle with Damian Darkh (Neil MC Donough) and H.I.V.E. in season 4 it is unlikely we would see her in the present day and more likely to see her in flashbacks or memories from others. Although dead doesn’t necessarily mean dead in the DC Universe, but that aside.

As the big bad of season 4 is now defeated all can deal with the sudden death of Laurel Lance and what impact that has had on their lives. So if everything is wrapped up with the aftermath of Laurel’s death we might close that the Laurel Lance chapter on Arrow.

I am curious to find out though what Laurel said to Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) with her dying breath. We are bound to find that out in the upcoming season. Although somethings might linger on a bit longer than just season 5. Who knows? To be continued….

Meet Cosplayer Cam Harper – And Her Pet Dalek!

Dalek Cas

Hello, fellow Whovians!  I would like you to meet “mover, shaker, Dalek Maker” Cameren Harper – who along with her Dad, built Dalek Cas.  Being somewhat of a Doctor Who fan myself, when Cam and I crossed paths in the Twitterverse, and then when I saw some pictures of her Dalek on Deviant Art, I felt that she would be an awesome addition to our cosplay interviews.  And luckily enough, she agreed!  [Read more…]

Greg Berlanti Developing ‘Black Lightning’ TV Series

black-lightning

It seems the Superhero TV news just doesn’t wanna stop this week, as Deadline reports that Greg Berlanti is working on yet another DC superhero series, alongside Mara Brock Akil (The Game, Being Mary Jane) and her husband Salim Akil. The description for the hero is as follows:

“Black Lightning centres on Jefferson Pierce. He made his choice: he hung up the suit and his secret identity years ago, but with a daughter hell-bent on justice and a star student being recruited by a local gang, he’ll be pulled back into the fight as the wanted vigilante and DC legend — Black Lightning.”

Created in 1977 by Tony Isabella with Trevor Von Eeden, Black Lightning was one of DC’s first major African-American superheroes. The series is currently being pitched to networks, with the Akil’s set to write and executive produce the project together with Berlanti and his production partner Sarah Schechter.

Given all Berlanti’s other DC projects have been picked up by The CW it would be surprising to see this taken elsewhere, however given the sheer number of comic book shows on the network it’s not a certainty that this one would join the group.

Some of Berlanti’s other efforts air on different networks, such as Blindspot on NBC, and he has several series in development for ABC. Clearly then he’s a busy man, but if ‘Black Lightning’ manages to get picked up and holds a quality akin to that of ‘The Flash’, we could be looking at receiving another very popular TV show next year.

The Flash: Season 3 Premiere Pictures And Jesse Quick Rumours

the-flash-tv-series

Season 3 of ‘The Flash’ is speeding towards us with the premiere just over a month away, so in order to rev us up for what’s looking to be a mind boggling season for the show, The CW has released a slew of new images from Episode 1.

the-flash-301-1the-flash-301-2the-flash-301-3the-flash-301-4the-flash-301-5the-flash-301-6the-flash-301-7the-flash-301-8the-flash-301-9the-flash-301-10the-flash-301-11the-flash-301-12the-flash-301-13the-flash-301-14

The CW had already revealed that Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) would finally be appearing as Kid Flash with a set of awesome promotional photos a couple months back, however it was unclear when in Season 3 he would be appearing. That’s all been cleared up now though as the pictures above make it very clear he’s the Flash of the Flashpoint timeline. Whether this means he’ll retain his powers when everything goes back to normal however remains to be seen. The character was a sort of non entity last season, with very little screen time of note, so giving him powers is a brilliant way to make him exciting. Take them away again though, and we might be looking at a problem.

In all the photos don’t reveal much, and so they shouldn’t, but it looks like we’re going to be treated to additional appearances by the Reverse Flash (Matt Letscher), as well as Henry (John Wesley Shipp) and Nora Allen (Michelle Harrison). Add to that Barry’s blossoming, but likely highly different, relationship with Iris (Candice Patton), and you best be prepared for a highly emotional episode.

This follows rumours that Jesse Quick (Violett Beane) is set to receive her powers this season too. The actress was spotted on set wearing what appeared to be a super suit similar to that of Barry (Grant Gustin), though nothing has yet been confirmed.

‘The Flash’ Season 3 is set to premiere Tuesday, October 4th 8pm on The CW, with international release soon after.

Sneak Peek at Supernatural Season 12

Yesterday, I was in Heaven for all of about 30 seconds.  That’s how long it took me to click on the link to a story featuring promotion pictures for the Season 12 premiere of The Show.  What show?  Seriously?  There’s only one show that I call … The Show.  Anyway, I clicked on the link so excited to see a teeny tiny glimpse into the world of my favorite brothers on The CW.  Then, I saw a blow torch and (in two other pics) a cattle prod in very close proximity to our Sammy…. and my feels had a mild melt down.

Okay… it wasn’t mild.  Don’t judge me!

Keep Calm and Carry On

But, I was quickly comforted by a picture of BAMF Dean with the same Ms. Watt… and he doesn’t look happy with her at all.  Sammy will be avenged!

Keep Calm and Carry On

Was there ever any doubt though?  I mean, really… did ya think Dean wasn’t going to save Sammy?  If so.. where have you been for 11 previous seasons?  The only difference this season is that Mama Winchester … Mary … she’ll be along for the ride too.  That sqee’ing you hear in the distance?  Yeah, that’s totally me.  Again… Don’t. Judge. Me!

And, just in case you didn’t look at that one pic close enough…. that’s an angel blade, BAMF Mary has in her hand…. and it has BLOOD ON IT!  And, look real close at this next pic.  Mama Winchester’s in the back seat!  Dean put Mom in the backseat and Cas got to ride shotgun! (wonder if he kept his cakehole shut)

Keep Calm and Carry On

They also gave us a glorious picture of Dean (Jensen Ackles).  If you notice that it’s a little damp… it’s just that I’m still drooling over this one.

Keep Calm and Carry On

They also gave us a peek at Lady Toni Bevell.  Now, she may not be the “big bad” for this season… but she’s currently second on my $**t list … right under Ms. Watt.

Keep Calm and Carry On

Yeah.  I don’t like her much.  She stole (okay ….. technically it was kidnapping) our Sammy.

All photo creds go to Katie Yu/ The CW (copyright 2016)… oh and speaking of the photo creds, in them they say the name of the episode is Keep Calm and Carry On.  Seriously?  They expect us to Keep Calm after this?  Til October?  They HAVE got to be kidding.

Supernatural: Is Adam Still in Hell?

winchester brothers

In every family there are topics that are guaranteed to start an argument.  For instance, in my family “The Facebook Incident of ’11” is never to be brought up unless someone wants to be hit with a chair at the dinner table in the middle of Thanksgiving Dinner… it’s the reason that I’m STILL not friends with certain members of my family on Facebook (it’s just better that way because unfortunately it IS my circus and they ARE my monkeys).   In the SPN Family, one of those topics is …. Adam in the Cage.

It’s one of those plot threads that you can pick at and pick at until the whole rug falls apart… if ya want.

And I do want… and I’m sort of in the mood to see some furniture fly.

For those way in the back… There’s a third Winchester brother.  His name is Adam Milligan.  Sam and Dean find out about their half brother Adam in episode 4.19 Jump the Shark.  Later, Adam becomes the vessel for the archangel Michael who ends up in The Cage with Lucifer.

cheers to Adam

The general consensus in The Famdom is that Adam is still in The Cage.  But, I don’t think so.  In episode 10.9 The Things We Left Behind, Castiel tells Claire Novak that her father Jimmy no longer occupies that body with him.  He tells her (and the viewers) that when a vessel is damaged beyond repair that the soul of the original occupant goes to Heaven.  So basically, being an angel’s vessel is a free ticket to Heaven.  Now, what he’s telling her is that in episode 5.22 Swan Song when Lucifer snaps his fingers and blows Castiel to smithereens Jimmy went to Heaven.  And, in case you’ve forgotten, Lucifer snapped his fingers and blew up Cas right after the famous line “Hey Assbutt!” when he threw a holy oil Molotov cocktail at Michael (in Adam’s body) thereby burning the vessel beyond repair.

adam

And, if that’s not enough proof for you… When Dean arrives at Stull Cemetery to be there with Sam when Lucifer (in Sam’s body) takes on Michael in the grudge match to end all grudge matches and end the world, Michael tells Dean “Adam’s not home right now”.  Now, I say that even if the Adam vessel wasn’t destroyed beyond repair, he wasn’t in there with Michael… therefore, he didn’t fall into The Cage with Michael, Lucifer and Sam.

Now, the majority of my fellow addicts say that Adam is still in The Cage.  The Show even sort of pokes fun at that in episode 10.5 Fan Fiction.  When “Adam” joins the Winchester Brothers’ family on the stage for a rendition of Carry On My Wayward Son, Sam and Dean ask “Who’s that?”

fan fiction

So, which side are you on?  Adam in the Cage or Adam in Heaven?  Leave me a comment… just don’t throw any furniture.
