Bates Motel SN4 EP7 – ‘ There’s No Place Like Home ‘

Last week’s episode “The Vault” was full of raw emotion and truly heartbreaking for both Norman and Norman, no wonder he is messed up having to endure and witness his mother being treated like a piece of crap. Romero learned the secret that Chick threatened to spread around town about Norma and Romero assures Norma he is not going anywhere. It’s about time Norma has a man in her life that treats her with respect and love she deserves. Dylan finds a letter in Norman’s room from Emma’s mother and he finds that she check into the motel but she didn’t check out. Was it Norman or Norma who ended her life??

SN4 EP7 – ‘ There’s No Place Like Home ‘

Norman wakes with a fright as Dr. Edwards is by his bed and he quickly realizes he has blacked out again during their session, they seem to be happening more frequently and are triggered when he is stressed or in a pressured situation, Norma and Romero are embracing married life and are enjoying the honeymoon period. At Pineview Julian and Norman are doing some papier-mâché when Norman sees a photo of Norma, he arranges the torn pieces of the newspaper and discovers that his mother and Romero are married and Norman isn’t happy about it at all, you can imagine what’s going through this mind. Norma had big plans to fix up the house but life and the lack of money got in the way and it hasn’t helped that its been slow season for the motel. Romero produces the bag of Bob Paris’ money, but Norma is reluctant to take it, he tells her she deserves this money she needs some good in her life. Romero answers the phone and its Norman, when he questions Norma why Romero had answered their phone she lies to him but little does she know, he has already found out the pair are married. He announces that he will be coming home and since he had signed himself in voluntarily, he has the right to sign himself out. Norma is surprised and taken off guard as Norman challenges her to if there is a specific reason why he shouldn’t come home.

Norman pays Vicki Monroe a visit in the hopes of signing himself out but it’s not as simple as he thought, there is a protocol which needs to be observed along with a formal letter, Vicki also mentions his stepfather’s insurance has approved his coverage for 3 months. The fallout is coming and god help Norma and Romero when he starts to unravel. Dylan walks in on a fight that Emma and her father are having about her mother, Will asks Dylan to back him up and in the process puts him in the dog house with Emma, when she learns that Dylan met her mother when she was in hospital, but he had neglected to tell her and Emma is worried about her mother, Dylan who has Audrey’s letter makes it his mission to find her. He returns home and Norma’s in a happy mood but that quickly changes when he asks her about Norman and shows her the letter from Audrey, telling her he found it in Norman’s room and when he finds out that she visited Norman, Dylan becomes suspicious that she never checked out, but Norma refuses to admit that Norman could hurt or kill Audrey.

wp-1461892331244.jpeg

Norma meets with Dr. Edwards and tell him she doesn’t think Norman is ready to come home and Dr Edwards agrees but unfortunately all he can do is petition the court that Norman is violent, Norma doesn’t want to go behind Norman’s back and asks to talk to him first to see if she can persuade Norman that come home is not a good idea as he is starting to do well at Pineview. Norman is distant and not interested in visiting with her and he knows she is being secretive, he produces the newspaper clipping he found and you can almost hear her heart start to race as she back pedals, telling him she only did it for the insurance and everything she has ever does has only ever been for him, Norman calls her bluff and wants her to prove it by letting him come home, Norman backed into a corner and feeling pressured agrees he can come home. Dylan gives Emma the letter he found that said horrible things about her father and no longer had any interest in finding her mother, look very likely Norman may have gotten away with it, or was it Norma?? I’m still not sure who was responsible for her death.

Dr. Edwards finds Norman in the art room after hours, painting the dog he made earlier and asks why he wants to go home all of a sudden since they had been making great progress, Norman breaks down and tells Dr. Edwards how much he means to him and how much he’s willing to work to get better, Dr. Edwards relents and signs his release on the condition they have three sessions a week. Norma returns home in a state and tells Romero that Norman is coming home, at first he is hurt that she made the decision without him, she tells him she had to tell Norman they got married and she did it for him. Norma is upset that she has ruined with Romero and her reassures her that its all ok and that Norman needs a decent father figure and Romero wants to be that so they can get though it together. Norma arrives at Pineview view to collect Norman but as she embraces him, Norma and Dr. Edwards both share a look of concern about Norman’s release, as the roll up to the house Norman has a creepy smile on his face, Norman is home…… Nothing good can come from Norman being home.

Yet another awesome episode this week, Romero and Norma are growing as a married couple, but I can’t shake this feeling with Norman home that something horrible will happen, anyone else got that same gut feeling? Can’t wait to see what next week’s episode with bring. See you back here the same time next week.

Damien SN1 EP5 – ‘ Seven Curses ‘

sevencurses.jpg

Wow! What an episode, it was dark with little twists that are slowly starting to unravel bit by bit. By far the darkest episode yet, and I believe its only going to get darker as it unravels more. Before we get in to the ‘Seven Curses’ let’s do a quick recap of ‘The Number of a Man’.

‘Number of a Man’ SN1-EP4

Detective Shay asks Damien to come in for further questioning, in regards to the recent deaths that are centered around Damien. They each threaten each other, before Damien mentions Ann’s interested in him. Shay visits Ann, she shows him the vault which is now a wine cellar and suggests Damien’s time spent as a war photographer has effected his mind. Simone’s mother brings in a witch doctor to put Kelly’s spirit to rest. The witch doctor burns her belongings which emits an orange flame before turning blue. In the ashes, they find her journal with the number 666 burned into the page. Shay’s son Jacob nearly drowns in the backyard pool.

Ok lets jump into ‘Seven Curses’ SN1-EP5

Like i said before, this episode was a cracker and Glen Mazzara, his team and the cast are killing it! Just to be clear they are killing it an awesome way, every episode just gets better and it hooks me in just that little bit more. This episode we see Damien looking for help which makes us believe he’s not just the beast in the making but also a man, will he be able to balance both sides of himself or will the beast take over? Damien seeks help from a Doctor which leads him to a veteran hospital where he runs into the woman who’s son he had saved from the on coming train, she was visiting her husband who was in the hospital and asks Damien if he would meet him.

We see an immediate connection between Damien and veteran, it pulls at the heartstrings and he photographs the veterans daily struggles in the hops of getting their story out. Simone believe Damien is the sole cause of he sisters death but Amani believes he is suffering mentally . We see Ann asking if she has been a good mother and keeping him safe, hinting she is actually his biological mother. Simone gets more than she bargained for while looking for photos at Damien’s apartment, two men in dark clothing and masks break in and ransacked Damien’s apartment looking for him. While at the hospital the veteran asks Damien to assist him in committing suicide, but he wants no part in it, he has had seen too much death. Damien searches the hospital when he finds the Veterans bed empty and he stumbles across a group of injured individuals that start chanting about the serpent with the number 666 when he enters the room. Damien’s connection with the vet leads him down a dark path as he photographs his suicide, its raw, dark and heartbreaking.

In this episode we are also starting to see a relationship form between Amani and Veronica and we have also learned that Veronica is Ann’s daughter and Damien’s sister. The Vatican also comes into play in this episode and you see the crypt where the daggers are held. This by far is the best episode to date, we are learning more about this life and the people surrounding him but there are still many questions to be answered.

When we left Damien (Bradley James) he had just discovered the number of the Beast branded on this scalp….

A hooded man enters a church and goes into the confessional booth, kneeling the man knocks on the closed screen the priest slides open the screen and says he’s here and hands the hooded man a dagger with a carved handle, when the man starts to pray the priest starts to fit and dies. It’s the day of Kelly’s fureral and Damien reconnect with old mates, but he is clearly distracted and notices a man hanging around the church but when he looks for him he is gone. While Kelly’s sister Simone (Megalyn Echikunwoke) speaks of her sister, Damien is sweating, his breating laboured and seeing blood run from Jesus’s feet, hands and head then a crow hits the stained glass window, Damien runs out of the church.

damien3.jpg

Damien spends the night walking around the city taking photos when the hooded man that was at the church attacks him with a dagger, but he ends cut in half when a taxi veers off the road and crushes him between the taxi and a dumpster. Detective James Shay (David Meunier) doesn’t buy Damien’s story that it was an accident, and becomes even more suspicious when he learns that Damien’s friend Kelly died in an accident a few days earlier, a mysterious benefactor tell the Detective Shay she is Damien’s council and he has been though an ordeal and needs rest.

Bates Motel SN4 EP2 – ‘Goodnight Mother’

bates1

Wow what an episode and it just keeps getting better and better each episode don’t  you agree? Let’s get down to business.

In this episode we see Norman (Freddie Highmore) start to take control from Norma (Vera Farmiga) they are losing trust in each and both suspect one an another of a horrible deed.  Emma’s father (Andrew Howard) pretty much tells Dylan (Max Thieriot) that what he dose for a living is not good enough for his beloved daughter, he tells Dylan that he believes,  he is better then that and he needs to remember the Emma (Oliva Cooke) is no longer a dying girl, she can do something with her life now, she has had her transplant. Emma gets taken off the respirator and struggles to breath on her own and starts gasping with a panicked look as her doctor calms her and she starts to breath,  talk  about on the edge of your seat… I swear I nearly passed out because I was holding my breath.

bates3

After the chat with Emma’s Dad and seeing her take her first breath Dylan starts to contemplates his future with Emma but you can clearly see the chemistry between them, meanwhile Norma is starting to come to terms with the fact Norman is becoming dangrous. Remember in episode 1 Norma askes Alex Remero (Nestor Carbonell) to marry her for insurance in order to get Norman into the Pineview Institute. Worried Norman is  dangrous Remero takes the money out that he hide in his fireplace and heads to Pineview Institute to get Norman committed when asked if he was a relative he tells Mrs Monore he is marrying Norman’s mother!

bates2

Alex calls Norma and tells her he will marry her and Norman will be addmitted to Pineview but Norman has to sign the paperwork which has been faxed to the Motel, Norman is checking a family in when the fax comes through and he is not happy. Norma tries to get him to sign the papers and he starts to flipping out,  Norma scared goes and hides to call Alex for help. Alex makes his way through the house and takes Norman into custody and leads him down to the patrol car, with Norma running after them crying and pleading with Norman to sign the paperwork as she promises him its a good place that will help him, its nothing like the county hospital he was first taken too, he finally signs the paperwork before he’s put in the patrol car and headed to Pineview Institute.

This episode was a cracker and we are starting to see the dynamics between Norma and Norman change, he is becoming the dominant one and it seems Norma is starting to lose her hold over him. I can’t wait for what episode 3 brings! Bates Motel definitely leaves me wanting more every episode, how about you? Let me know your thoughts on this episode.
