Last week I was lucky enough to win a double pass to the Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries Costume exhibition at Old Government House which is in Brisbane, Australia. I attended the exhibition on Sunday 24th of July and our pass also included the Garden Party which was on the lawn areas of Old Government House and my god what a sight it was to see, there were young and old all done to the nines in 1920s attire all enjoying the picnic on the laws with beautiful hampers with fancy sandwiches, tea an cakes aplenty with a trio belting out hits of the 20s, while folks floated across the dance floor but for me the best part was the costume exhibition, every piece in the exibition was actually worn in the show, they were all incredibly beautiful and all designed by australian designer Marion Boyce. Marion and her team created 120 costumes for the series, including sleepwear, daywear, nightwear and special occasion outfits.
For those that have not heard of or watched Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries then here is a little background about one of my all time favorite Australian crime series if you haven’t seen it then you my friends are missing out!

What is Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries and who is Miss Fisher?

Well Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is an Australian television drama series and it based on the author Kerry Greenwood’s novels and was created by Deb Cox and Fiona Eagger, the series revolves around the personal and professional life of Phryne Fisher played by Essie Davis, a glamorous private detective in 1920s Melbourne who continually keeps Detective Inspector John “Jack” Robinson played by Nathan Page and his Constable Hugh Collins played by Hugo Johnston-Bert on their toes with her sass and smarts.

The photos really don’t do the stunning costumes justice, in person they are absolutely beautiful and I was in awe of the whole exhibition and so lucky I got the opportunity to see it. Below I have created a little video of the exibition so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did creating it. You will also find links to the Miss Fisher’s site. Miss Fisher also has a YouTube channel.

Madonna’s Still A Rebel At Heart

rebel

In the last week Madonna has been getting a lot of news publicity here in Australia, but its not ‘good’ publicity. Madonna is down under for her ‘Rebel Heart Tour’ which kicked of in Melbourne on 12th March 2016, Madonna’s recent shows have been surrounded in controversy after the singer turned up to several of her shows late and even, reportedly, under the influence of alcohol. The latest controversy happened here in Brisbane on Thursday night (17th March 16) when a young fan Josephine Georgiou was invited on stage, Madonna then tells the crowd She’s the kind of girl you just want to slap… on the a*s.” The Material Girl then pulled Josephine’s top down – exposing her left breast to thousands of shocked fans. As Josephine quickly pulls up her strapless top, Madonna apologises, saying: “Oh s**t. I am so sorry, sexual harassment. You can do the same to me.”

Many have called it sexual harassment and have called for legal action, but Josephine insists she has no intention of launching legal action against the 57-year-old singer, telling the Australian Courier-Mail newspaper: “Seriously, why would I sue Madonna for the best moment of my life?” Josephine goes on to say “Only I get to decide if I’m humiliated or not. Why would people assume I am humiliated by my own breast, nipple or body?” she insisted. “It was the best night. She was calling me a Victoria’s Secret model the whole time I was on stage, which is so flattering.

There has been alot of mixed reviews from Madonna’s Australian fans some were disgusted that she kept them waiting for 3 hours, but others said they absolutely loved the concert and she was worth waiting for.

The Rebel Heart Tour is due to wrap up in Sydney on the 20th March 2016.
