Killjoys SN2 EP2 – ‘Wild,Wild Westerly’

Hi fellow Killjoys fans!

Did I mention in the last episode that I really like the new title sequence?

You are most likely not going to be too happy with me this week. I felt that this episode was not a great one. The usually snappy one-liners sucked – “The dickiest dick who ever dicked”?? That the best you got, Johnny? Line delivery felt forced, one example was when D’Avin held Pree back from entering The Royale. The plot line advanced the story arc only slightly. There were good moments, for instance the soundtrack playing in the background when the trio was trying to save Scarback Alvis from a really bad life choice was amazing. It took me a bit of digging, but I eventually found out the song is called Pillars & Pyre, by Dralms. Haunting, ethereal and wholly appropriate for the scene. It starts at about 1:20.

They find Fancy Lee (Sean Baek) inside. D’Avin has memory lapses, but thinks it may be a trap for Dutch. We pull out of the sequence to find a dreaming D’Avin strapped to a chair, IV spike in his back, receiving a forced infusion of the green goop that we last saw at the end of Season 1. [Read more…]
