Customization returns along with new Pokemon and Pokemon Refresh in a new trailer!

https://i0.wp.com/serebii.net/sunmoon/video/200916-1.jpg

Pokemon Sun and Moon is closer and closer each day, and the Pokemon will stop at nothing to excite its fans.

This trailer started off with new Pokemon who are exclusive to either game.

Passimian was the first New Pokemon they showed off and he is of the Fighting type. A Pokemon resembling a lemur who wields a ball. He has the ability receiver which allows his ability to change to save him from an attack. I think this Pokemon is quite cool and very inventive.

Oranguru then got his time to shine, an orangutan Guru as it were. This Normal/Psychic Pokemon is clearly wise beyond its years. It is said that Oranguru are healers of wild Pokemon and have even been known to use items humans normally use. Quite the fearsome Pokemon to be able to do what other Pokemon can’t

Lycanroc is next up with his two forms. The first is the midday form which is exclusive to Pokemon Sun. While the Midnight Form is exclusive to Pokemon Moon. The Midday form is more wolf like and the Midnight Form is far more vicious looking.

The Midday Form really does just look like a stereotypical Wolf and is pure Rock type. Strong and loyal if this Pokemon respects you as a Rockruff you will have a ally forever.

The Midnight Form is just an awesome Pokemon, which is just Rock type. I honestly am surprised that it is just Rock as I hoped it would have been Rock Dark but c’est la vie. This Lycanroc is more like a werewolf which is what was thought to be the case. This devious grinned Pokemon baits it foes with a first attack before smashing them. Definitely not a Pokemon you want to be facing, I am sure he will join my team’s ranks.

Customization is back in full force with tons more to customize. The original character designs are nice but it always helps to have a character you create. The amount of customization is definitely improved and I am excited to see what kind of character I will be able to make.

There is also Pokemon Refresh which is similar to Pokemon Amie. In this you get to feed and pet your Pokemon. By doing so you get to raise their affection for you. This is such a great feature as it really allows you to connect with your Pokemon.

Lastly they showed off two new Z moves specific to fan favorites Pikachu and Eevee. Pikachu gets Pikatastrophe which looks like a devastating move. Eevee gets Extreme Evoboost which summons the power of all its evolution’s to increase Eevee’s power. This really looks like a wonderful fan service type move. I really enjoy that Vaporeon looks like he is the ultimate Eeveelution in this Z move.

Another thing announced was the connection between Sun and Moon and Pokemon Bank. This update will now come later then expected which I guess is understandable. With this update we will be able to use Poketransporter to send Pokemon from the Digital copies of Red, Blue, and Yellow to Sun and Moon!

With new news coming on October 4th we have a little time before we will get any news. But with less then 2 months the news will begin slowing so they don’t reveal it all. So excited to get my hands on this game!

First footage of the Sun and Moon Anime!

https://i0.wp.com/serebii.net/smanime.jpg

It is finally here, the first footage of the next season of Pokemon. After this thrilling season known as the Kalos saga in its entirety Pokemon is changing things up once again. What adventures await our hero Ash in Pokemon’s version of Hawaii?

Based on this trailer it looks  like Pokemon is changing up its animation style. Ash really does look completely different from any of his past appearances, not that that is a bad thing.

In this series he does in fact head back to school. He has some work to do if he is going to become the Pokemon Master he has always wanted to be.

http://i1.wp.com/pokejungle.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/sun-moon-anime-poster.jpg?resize=344%2C459

This poster combined with this 30 second teaser shows off a good bit of information of Ash’s new journey. Look at our hero’s humorous grin. Clearly he is still going to catch Pokemon so how long will he actually be in a classroom.

In the background are many of the characters he will meet including the 7th generation Professor Kukui, Professor Oak’s cousin and the Trial Captains Lana, Mallow, Sophocles, and Kiawe. It also shows a few of the new pokemon Ash will encounter as well as highlighting the fact that Pokemon are now rideable.

In the corner it shows off Team Rocket blasting off again, but there is something interesting about this. They are clinging to the new Pokemon Bewear who will join their side I am assuming. Following them is the Pokemon Mimikyu who just wants to be loved and has disguised itself as a Pikachu to get that love. I am curious how this will all play out. They have always wanted Pikachu but have not been able to catch it. Will Mimikyu be chasing them, since it knows they really want a Pikachu. Based on their frightened looks I am thinking yes.

The Pokemon Sun and Moon Anime is arriving in Japan in November, and even though the rest of the world will wait awhile it looks worth it. The style may be different but it is clear to me as a true-blue Pokemon fan that Pokemon is still alive and well.

All I can say is Aloha Generation Seven, I do hope we get along well!

Big Bang Theory Season 10 Trailer Released

https://i0.wp.com/www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/bea4e9d433b249fe2fa3b29f092b48f9ec4a7872/c=112-0-1889-1336&r=x408&c=540x405/local/-/media/2016/09/12/USATODAY/USATODAY/636093019454224108-108829-2224b-3-.jpg

The first Big Bang Theory Trailer has been posted and boy howdy does it look like a crazy one. In the brief scene it shows off Penny’s Family Dynamic.

Clearly there is a lot of issues within this Family of Four and a lot of humor to go along with it.  Penny’s father has been seen multiple times throughout the series but this is the first time her mother and brother have been seen.

I can’t wait to see more of this episode and see how these characters end up interacting with the cast. They really do look like they could be a family in some weird way and I think that is the part of Television’s magic. These casting executives really know what they are doing when they can take four people with no genetic connection and you can believe they are family.

Penny is definitely a daddy’s girl as is clear from the past episodes. Her father wanted Leonard to marry Penny since he came clean about their breakup. I am glad that he was able to see this wish fulfilled.

Penny’s mother played by Katey Segal is interestingly enough playing her mother for the second time after 8 Simple Rules. Jack McBrayer is on point as the recently released druggie and Penny’s brother. Clearly different from other roles because usually he plays a goody two shoes type. I am curious to see how he plays this character.

All in all this looks like quite the episode and I can’t wait until September 19th to see how this all unfolds. The pictures of the wedding are really lovely and I am glad that they are actually going to have the wedding shown.

Big Bang Theory starts soon and it might even be the last season, so look forward to my coverage, only on Skatronixxx!

Gotham Is A Mad City In Series 3 Trailer

https://i0.wp.com/cdn3-www.comingsoon.net/assets/uploads/gallery/gotham-season-3/gothams3poster.jpg

Gotham Season is heading to our televisions on September 19th! After crashing the bus and releasing the monsters in the city Fish Mooney is back and ready to cause problems.

We already have Selina Kyle who is quite the criminal, but this season will be adding more to the fray. The city is going to be quite mad when Gotham: Mad City premieres.

This trailer highlights a lot that is coming and it really is exciting! It includes a view of many interesting things that will happen throughout the season including the change of Poison Ivy, Bruce really stepping up, and Fish amassing an army of Monsters.

Penguin will also be up to his own games and Riddler is locked up for now but he could be freed. The police will lose their grip on the city as monsters run free causing chaos these cops couldn’t think about stopping. The only one for the job is definitely James Gordon who is going to have to do some crazy things in an attempt to arrest these monsters.

Tune into Gotham Mad City when it premiers on September 19th!

The Great Wall Trailer Review a.k.a. Another White Male Saves China

The Great Wall American trailer came out recently to some controversy. It stars Matt Damon, Jing Tian, and popular Chinese singer and actor Luhan. It’s an action fantasy centered around The Great Wall and the evil that lurks beyond it – hint: the evil is a dragon that the main character needs to slay.

Which could be cool, considering that there is a cultural history of dragons within China’s mythology. There even seems to be a strong diverse female character played by Jing Tian.

Check out the trailer here:

I love the idea of a co-production between American and Chinese film companies, as well as a diverse, all-star cast to attract people from both sides of the aisle. The story seems entertaining and a possible metaphor for a Trump campaign – there’s an evil on the other side of the wall and the only person who can save the general populace is a white male despite the movie literally being set in China.

If you haven’t read Constance Wu’s thoughts on the topic, here is a lovely link to one of my favorite outspoken female Asians:

http://www.avclub.com/article/constance-wu-has-no-fucking-time-matt-damons-china-240362

Ok, here goes:

This doesn’t seem to be raising much of a fuss on the Chinese side – but on the American side, where diversity in film has been an obvious, rampant problem that hides behind the idea of only white male stars attract moviegoers to spend cash, it’s another blow in a series of long-standing insults. Especially on the tailcoats of Matt Damon’s comments on his show Greenlight.

Matt Damon’s Greenlight Diversity Controverys:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/matt-damon-project-greenlight-effie-851656

Another reason that this is so frustrating is because Matt Damon is such a great actor. When he made those comments on Greenlight, it broke my hopeful little heart.

But back to The Great Wall: would it have fucking killed this movie to cast a person of color as its main actor? The movie is going to make money regardless because it’s marketed towards American and Chinese markets. Literally any skin color besides white would’ve worked and made sense in whatever rural era of China this fantasy is set in.

A key factor missed in casting seems to be that NON-WHITE PEOPLE CAN BE HEROES TOO. Americans can empathize with people of color. This storyline is going to be more entertaining than deep, so why not take the chance and have America represented by someone other than Matt freakin’ Damon?

If Jing Tian is exoticized or overly-sexualized and ends up being Matt Damon’s love interest in a non-equal relationship that doesn’t make sense within the movie’s storyline I will actually lose my shit.

And no, it doesn’t make it ok that the director and other characters are Chinese, or that it’s backed by Chinese financiers. It is a film titled The Great Wall, which everyone comes out of the womb knowing is in China. Not a huge stretch of imagination to believe that the main character would be Chinese.

If diversity wasn’t the big deal it is within Hollywood, it wouldn’t matter that Matt Damon is the hero of this movie. But because lack of diversity is an issue, this missed opportunity for Hollywood is just another slap in the face for the minority community.

Get your shit together Hollywood and stop racial bias. Would love to see a non-white person in a main heroic role. Also, if this is just backlash from the trailer, I can’t wait to see what happens when the actual movie comes out.

Sherlock Season 4 Trailer Launched

Sherlock-Season-4

Oof. I am a die-hard Sherlock Holmes fangirl and I love the BBC, but damn was this trailer dark. The lightheartedness of the previous three seasons are gone – there is not one strip of humor in the minute and thirty second trailer. Everything is death, and it looks like Sherlock will be pushed to the extreme in the next season as evidenced by his gaunt face and consistent five o’clock shadow.

The trailer shows actor Toby Jones to be the major villain in Season 4 (sidenote: horrifying, hair-raising laugh). Personally, I believe Moriarty is dead, and that he was smart enough to figure out a way to make Holmes’ life a living hell from beyond the grave, and that the focus will shift to Toby Jones’ character as the main villain.
So the three clue words for this upcoming season are: “Thatcher,” “Smith,” and “Sherrinford.” The current theories are that no one really knows what “Thatcher” could relate to except for a password in “The Hounds of Baskerville” and an old Watson blog post where an art student is killed by a clay bust of Margaret Thatcher. There are more leads on “Smith,” in which Toby Jones is confirmed to be playing a man named “Culverton Smith,” who is a character from “The Adventure of the Dying Detective” by Arthur Conan Doyle. Story about poison and Sherlock pretending to poison himself to trick Smith out of hiding – good story. Curious how they’re going to modernize it.

And last but not least, “Sherrinford.” Leading theory? The eldest Holmes brother who takes care of the Holmes estate so the younger two can go play parliament and private detective.

This series has never let me down, and for a collection of short stories that was published in the late 1880s-early 1890s, it has been wonderfully modernized and turned into fantastic entertainment. Let’s just hope in this next season we’ll have enough banter and everyday moments to balance out the drama and destruction.

And let’s not forget that Mary has a little one on the way… can’t wait to see how this ends up! Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments below.

New Fantastic Beasts Trailer Revealed

fantastic-beasts-and-where-to-find-them-sdcc-poster-banner

A new trailer for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them has been revealed at Comic Con:

The footage in the trailer definitely captures that David Yates late Harry Potter feel within the cinematography, however there are also hints through the dialogue at a lighter tone more in-keeping with the Chris Columbus – Harry Potter movies. No-Maj Jacob (Dan Fogler) looks to be a highlight of the film; I think we can all sympathise with his desire to be a wizard!

The trailer sees a number of returning magical creatures, most notably house elves and goblins. The house elves barely featured in the Harry Potter films (despite the Hogwarts house elves along with Dobby and Barty Crouch Jnr’s house elf Winky being quite prominent in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire book),so it is nice to see them star in the new film. Hopefully we will get to see plenty of the house elves this time round: perhaps Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander has his own personal house elf among his collection of magical creatures?

One of my favourite moments in the trailer is the moving painting. These paintings are nothing new in the Harry Potter universe. They have appeared numerous times in both the books and films; one painting of a fat lady was the password-protected entrance to the Gryffindor common room (excellently portrayed by Dawn French in the films). It is still a cool effect however and one of my favourite elements of the Wizarding World.

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is based on a Harry Potter spinoff book by JK Rowling, originally published in 2001. The book was intended to be one of Harry’s textbooks from Hogwarts, first mentioned in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone as one of the books required for his first year of studies. It is written in-universe by Newt Scamander as documentation of the magical creatures he has encountered. The book is scheduled to be republished on the 14th March 2017 with a new foreword by JK Rowling. The film’s screenplay will also be published this November and is currently available for pre-order on Amazon for the price of £8.49 (or if you operate in Wizarding World currency, fourteen sickles and three knuts).

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them opens on the 18th November 2016, so get practising your apparating skills. You don’t want to splinch yourself. Arriving at the cinema without your head wouldn’t be much fun…

MTV’s Teen Wolf To End After Sixth Season

teen_wolf_intertitle1.png

It was announced at San Diego Comic Con that season six of Teen Wolf will be its final season.  Cue the waterworks, people.

13814510_10208430506697654_855570388_n

Since its beginning in 2011, Teen Wolf has pulled fans in with its intriguing plot lines, lovable characters, and crazy monsters.  Now that the show is coming to an end, fans are wondering just what can they expect from the final season?

Based on what we’ve seen from the new trailer and what show creator Jason Davis gave away in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, these are just a few things that we can begin to ponder about the show’s final season:

The Wild Hunt is after Stiles

In the trailer for the new season, we get a sneak peek at the new threat the heroes of Beacon Hills must face.  This time it’s the Wild Hunt.  If this Wild Hunt is anything like the Wild Hunt from Celtic Mythology, or the Wild Hunt from Cassandra Clare’s The Dark Artifice’s trilogy, we may have a big problem on our hands.  The Wild Hunt consists of a group of horsemen; oftentimes accompanied by dark creatures—think hellhounds from Supernatural.  In the trailer, we’re told that the Wild Hunt has come to Beacon Hills, and our precious Stiles is next on their “To hunt” list.  The Wild Hunt of the Teen Wolf universe makes people disappear, which is pretty accurate to other versions of the mythology.  One of the few ways a person targeted by the Hunt can have a chance at escape is to jump between realms.  In a few of the scenes in the trailer, Stiles looks to be in a completely different world from the rest of the crew.  So what has happened to Stiles?  Was he caught?  Is he running away from the Hunt?  Will he be okay?  And most importantly, will his friends and family be able to remember him?

Are we finally going to get Stydia?!

During their interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jason Davis spilled that Stydia would play a role in this final season, but it wouldn’t be in a way that the fans would see coming.  So what can we expect?  We’re not really sure.  There are a few emotional moments between the fan favorite OTP in the trailer, but how different is their relationship going to be in these last twenty episodes?  We will have to watch to find out!

No love interest for Scott?

It was previously mentioned that Arden Cho would not be returning as Kira in the sixth season.  This means that for the first time since the show’s beginning, Scott will not have a love interest.  How will this new situation play out for Scott?  Will he be depressed or will he be hyper-focused on The Hunt and how to save his remaining friends?  Will he become even more of a leader, or need more support from his pack as a piece of him is missing?  I would like to see that he is strong and doesn’t need a relationship to make him whole, but only time will tell.

Is a happy ending really possible?

With the threat of the Wild Hunt, a happy ending seems pretty far off.  The Wild Hunt is near impossible to escape, so how will the series end if the threat isn’t possible to defeat?

This season seems to promise a lot of drama!  With the dark themes, it seeks to really instill a sense of urgency with each episode.  After the climax of the series with the dark Kitsune in season 3B, show creators have remained in a dark concept for the show.  Dylan O’Brien has shown his acting ability with this show, and viewers can definitely expect some hard hitting scenes from him in this final season.  The entire cast has grown so much over the years.  It will be sad to see them go, but it’s been a wild ride.

What do you think will happen in the final season of Teen Wolf?

Go watch the trailer below!

Snowden Trailer Review: Same Story, Not As Interesting, Probably More Explosions

Untitled

Nothing is as exciting as real life right? So let’s make a drama/thriller out of Edward Snowden’s controversial life choices and watch the money roll in.

Sounds legit after watching the Snowden trailer, which opens in theaters on September 16, 2016. Keep in mind Citizenfour, which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Picture, only came out two years ago.

Snowden’s story is so well-known at this point that the only interesting aspect left to dramatize to pieces is the internal struggle of Snowden’s patriotic self and the fact that he is betraying his country in the name of the common good. That struggle however is subtle, and this does not look like a subtle movie – if someone had yelled “ ‘MURICA” in the first twenty seconds of the trailer it would’ve fit in.

The trailer starts off with how we know Snowden will end – Snowden on the run in a foreign country. Then we hear my favorite line in the trailer because it concisely shows the guts of who Snowden is: “As far as I can tell, you’ve been walking on two broken legs for weeks.” And the trailer goes on to show how patriotic Snowden is at his core, the shock that Snowden feels at his nation’s betrayal of spying on the general populace, and the emotional, personal, and physical risk he takes by hiding an SD card in a Rubik’s cube (always the sign of a true genius) as this movie’s method of how Snowden smuggled out the info.

It all falls flat. Instead of being moved by the true patriotism of Edward Snowden, the music and sound effects seem overly dramatic and heavy-handed despite what’s going on on-screen. It’s hard to take Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s seriously in this role, although I want to like him – and to be frank about it, here is another major blockbuster about a young white male fighting against the odds for the greater good. The only interesting aspect to the trailer is Snowden’s story, which everyone already knows – there is no additional spice to the same old meat.

This also has to be said: there is a complete lack of diversity. Jolly black security guards do not count as diversity. Also, the only women I see in this trailer are either Snowden’s girlfriend and… nope, just Snowden’s girlfriend (who only exists in relation to Snowden). Unless you count the woman in the webcam, which I don’t.

As someone who walked out of Citizenfour a changed person, I do not want to go see this movie based on the trailer. But I deeply respect the true Edward Snowden – I admire what he did, the bravery that it took, and the personal sacrifices he had to make. Maybe this trailer isn’t indicative of the movie, because there is a story to tell there – let’s just hope Oliver Stone does it justice.
