The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Slayed The Survivor Dragon”

If there was a review to miss, perhaps last weeks illness worked in my favour considering Wills story dovetailed nicely into the first of tonight’s eliminations.

Isn’t it funny how Wills ‘Big Move’ last week was in order to gain a winning resume only for him to become the forgotten number in this weeks meager first half? And that’s not forgetting that his moment was totally overshadowed by Adam’s miss-play of his Hidden Immunity Idol for Hannah anyway, so was the move really worth it?

It has to stated that Will’s move last week was in no way a ‘wining move‘ and I don’t know if the Survivor Producers were trying to give us a “Will is controlling his destiny” edit or what but Will came off as a massive douche in the first half of this episode. Especially considering he gains almost no credibility for voting out Zeke last week besides a massive target on his back and yet he believes he is running the game because of it.

Had he not been paying attention?

To say he annoyed me more than Fig-Tails is an accomplishment given the little airtime he received. That being said, the guy left with a smile on his face and no ill will (oh that was pun-tastic, c’mon) for being blind sided, so major props has to be given there.

I might be in the minority when it comes to enjoying double Tribal Council episodes but guys, we are 33 seasons in at this point. Rarely does daily island struggle bear much fruit – besides the odd Goat Hunting scene – anymore so the quicker we can get to Immunity Challenges (and less Reward Challenges pleeeease) and straight to pre-Tribal scrambling the better. Perhaps not every week but with Thanksgiving and this amongst some of the best episodes this season, it’s got to count for something.

Everyone pretty much got their time to shine tonight besides Sunday, whose elimination episode played out like the rest of her game, not being shown. But Adam and Jays love-hate bromance has quickly become my highlight of the season.

I’m living for their discussions when Jay tells Adam that he “hates” him for making him play his idol. The dichotomy that exists in their relationship where they both know they have to work together while also knowing that it’ll be a tough ask for either of them to win against each other in the end, is delicious to watch.

So when Adam’s reveal of his moms lung cancer secret to Jay, it only further compacted this pairs complicated friendship. Adding depth to a Survivor season that all to often is overlooked in favour of narrow storytelling.

To say I’m rooting for those two to make it to end is an understatement but with Jay’s Idol play tonight. I just don’t think it’s going to happen.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Million Dollar Gamble”

When compared to last years Fall Season of Survivor Cambodia, when the Thanksgivings edition gave us the epic two episode downfall of the one-and-only Stephen Fishbach. Tonight’s episode somewhat paled in comparison with two Castaways going home who either were ineffectual in the game or were shown to do little in playing the game.

That being said, who doesn’t enjoy a good Rock-Draw? Well, Jessica for one.

Sorry Jess!

Even though Chris and Jessica went home (more on that later), this episode was very much Zeke and Davids game. The two Kingpins of the season lined up their troops and went into war, leaving Hannah to flip-flop in the middle.

Sure she’s a self-confess neurotic and felt akin to the other neurotic of the Season in David (it was a neuroses love-in) but out of the pair, surely Zeke comes at the game from a purely logical angel. So when Hannah is fully aware that like her, David plays from a stand-point of “Oh crap, I’m going home“, wouldn’t you want the more stable of the pair to steer you in the right direction?

That being said, Zeke played fast and loose this week staring with a warning shot across the bow of the fragile Gen-X alliance. Getting out the stronger players whenever you can will should be the best strategy in Survivor but given how Chris was fully in Zeke’s corner perhaps he will be the dead body that trips him up later. Especially if he is a bitter Juror (which I doubt) but Chris explosion from the game seems the more unnecessary out of the two.

Which leads me to Jess.

Other than her episode 1 Legacy Advantage finding spike, Jess has fallen victim to the ‘tell rather than show‘ mentally that Survivor Editors have towards certain female players in the game. Other than via confessionals by Bret, Chris and Sunday who told us that Jess was a dangerous player, not that anything in the edit suggested that, if anything Jess seemed quiet, loyal and (with all due respect) boring-as-hell. Which makes all the sense in the world considering how she left the game due to a rock draw, so to use Cambodia as a reference point yet again, she is the Kimmi Kappenberg of Millennials Vs Gen-X.

The other big moment came from Bret this week who shared a poignant moment with Zeke when he kinda-sorta-but-not-really came out on Survivor, a moment that was surprisingly handled delicately by the producers. Which lead to Zeke expressing admiration for Bret and the things he has done in his life as a gay-man in a time when being out-and-proud – a mantra that Zeke lives by – was difficult or near-impossible for him to do.

To play the Cynic Survivor Fan though, I was also curious to see that even though this was Bret’s story, it was Zeke who told us what this meant to him, for him and what we as the audience should feel about it rather than Bret himself. Considering this episode was – excuse the double entendre – a coming out party in terms of edit for Bret, perhaps he should tell us his life story in his own words.

Just a thought Survivor Producers, just a thought.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Still Throwin’ Punches”

When Survivor was last in Fiji, perennial Fan Favourite Yau-Man admitted that he “got a little nasty“, a claim that Taylor could also fess up too tonight.

Let’s be fair, you could call it a strategic move – for Tails in any case – to blackmail Adam into keeping Schtum about his stash of food, via using his (stupid) revelation about his Reward Stealing (Dis) Advantage. But considering stealing food in the first place is an all-time-dumb thing to do, you are bound to have another Trail-Mix Scandal on yours hands.

With all that in mind, Tails played a blinder at Tribal Council. Using Adams Advantage to put in the minds of the others that he could steal their Loved Ones Visit was genius, even if Adam put the idea in his head last week. And it clearly had an effect on Adam too, who is being painted as the Villain of this season.

The slow descent of my Favourite Adam started last week and seemingly snowballed tonight. From Zeke admitting to Will and Jay that he would happily cut his alliance-chums throat to Adam-himself calling out his own jerky actions of gloating about being in the majority alliance. I can’t help but feel that Adam is one step away from burning the camp to the ground Brandon Hantz style. Not that I’m calling his sanity into question but with Adam’s emotions bubbling on the surface already, Tails and Jay piling on him at Tribal Council was rough to watch. So you’ve gotten wonder what state of mind Adam is in going into next week.

But just don’t pee in the rice and beans bro, not cool.

From someone who seems over-the-top-negative to Hannah, who keeps impressing me. Considering her early status in the games was that of comedic relief coupled with damming statements and moves that didn’t seem all that logical. She may have an Aubrey finish in her yet.

For sure she is finding her footing – in her confessional she admits as much – I’m just worried she is coming out of the gates too hot right now. As one of three females still left in the game, you’ve got to think that the men are on the docket to start getting picked off now that Taylor has broken the seal? If that’s the case, all Hannah has to do is position herself behind the next Meat Shield whilst playing ‘Mastermind‘ behind the scenes. Worked for Aubrey last season, right?

While Taylor got the boot, Jay roared into prominence showing that A* Confessionals isn’t the only thing in his back pocket.

I was certain he was going to use Idol, so much so that when he didn’t and those name started racking up, I was positive he was a goner. But lo and behold I shouldn’t have doubted my man because like Alex in Survivor Fiji, he voted for his drinking buddy Taylor to ensure that the Vote Split went in his favour. Oh Man, Earl must be so pissed right now.

Not only that but he threw some shade in Tails direction with a truth bomb so glorious as to refer to his pal as a “dumb Surfer“. What was that again Tasha? “Shots fired!

We’ll forget that its probably not the best course of action to insult Jury Members on their way out but I’ll excuse it because I’m still laughing.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “I’m The Kingpin”

What a hair-raising episode for Adam fans! Given the through-line we got, I was convinced that I was losing yet another one of my favourites. Especially when he didn’t use that Idol!

More on that point, what a great look for Hannah. The awkward home-girl of the Geek contingent, Hannah was able to put Adam at ease and tell him to “relax bro” after his squirrelly antics saw the vote sway in his direction a number of times. That’s not to say Hannah can win this but I’m ready for more airtime for her when considered that female Millennials are an endangered species right now.

Damn it Michelle! Where were those Jedi mind tricks girl? After her elaborate plan to vote out Mari (a little less salty), I was at least content that Michelle was a good player (which I still stand by that) and excited to see her go far. But these attractive females need to stop hanging off the Bros in the games. We have reached a point in Survivor when the “Meat shield” is a valid and successful plan to win outright, just ask Cambodia Sole Survivor Jeremy Collins. So with that trend set to continue, the unassuming female player that usually looks to go far becomes a target at the Merge. Even more so when Hidden Immunity Idols are in the mix, an x-factor that contributed more to Michelle’s exit than anything she did wrong, but still meant she took the hit when the Majority alliance weren’t sure whether Jay would past his Idol to Taylor but defiantly knew that Michelle would not receive it.

These Survivor nerds need to stop, listen to Hannah and chill out.

If it isn’t David giving me heart palpitations in the pre-Merge, Adam has now stepped up and become determined to send me to an early grave. Seriously, what in the hell possessed him to tell Taylor about this #SurvivorFirst advantage of stealing a reward, which is flat-out dumb by the way. I get that you have spent X amount of days together but you sent his Survivor Girlfriend home … he is not on your side! But then again when Tails is Mason-Jaring-i- up and stealing food, an alliance with the Dumb-arse Meat-Shield maybe isn’t such a bad plan. If he was on your side, which he ain’t, so still bad.

Will stepped into the fray tonight and really annoyed me. I know I should be all “he’s just a High Schooler” and “isn’t it cool that he is out there” but I’m not. I want more old people falling over rather than young people winning Immunity and thinking they are ‘Bad Asses’ for doing one entertaining thing this whole time. Perhaps the purple aspect to his edit puts him at a disadvantage but I just don’t care for Will, which is too bad because I know that he is a super fan and I want to root for him. But when you essentially just a pawn in the great scheme of things you get lumped in with the Sundays of the show and that is really bad place to be.

Maybe I’ll eat my words when he wins the game but … he ain’t wining the game.

Speaking of edits, Bret has really turned his game around. It’s possible that his spike in visibility is a precursor to a boot nearing soon but the idea of  Tri-Force of Bret, Chris and Zeke running this game to end might not be as crazy as it would’ve sounded in the Pre-Merge.

With so many lame ducks still around I’m certainly not against any three of the aforementioned Bro’s winning this game. I can’t shake this feeling however that someone underwhelming may steal this entire thing. Least not forget that Ken and Jessica still have that tight bond and an Legacy Advantage in the back pocket. I can see if those two take a Goat to final, Ken will easily win. Which would sour my opinion of what has been a surprisingly fun season so far.

With three Hidden Immunity Idols still in the mix though, I’m sure Millennials Vs Gen-X has some surprises still in store.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “I Will Destroy You”

What a weird episode!

Besides the bountiful mic-drops from glorious Michaela (more on her in a bit), out of nowhere those that have been Purple-glossed for some time now found their voices … and boy did they speak up.

Firstly we got the new Vanua Tribe and Michelle – who besides her episode Two ousting of Mari (still salty yo) – has been relegated to background draping in favour of Chris, Zeke and David. Yes a majority of her confessionals was complaining about how gross the dudes were and how she was brought up with manners. But she also reminded us that she was at the bottom of the pecking order, obvious to us because of the lack of penis or should that be pecker (HaHa). But its surely a precursor to Michelle Jedi-Mind tricking herself back into the competitor … right?

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

Sticking with The Millennials and after last-weeks Figgy Boot (YAY) we got some annoying Ken and Jessica doubting Adam’s intentions because he is smart. And smart is bad in Survivor, which probably means Taylor is sticking around for a while.

Great

Seriously though, if Adam’s sacrifice results in him being screwed over by Ken and Jess, I’m goanna be pissed. Not as much as Michaela but more on that in a bit (we’ll get there). But what is Jess’ play here? Go with Taylor when his boy Jay is on the other Tribe? Or go with Chris, Bret and Sunday who voted for her numerous times?

But yeah, vote Adam out who has little-to-no alliances. Smart!

Any-who lets get to Michaela who was rather ceremoniously voted out of the game.

Cue the Hashtag bro.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

So Jay thought it wise to vote out Michaela because not only is she smart (that old Chestnut), a challenge Beast but is also loyal to him, I see the problem here. Perhaps if Jay broke the Meta-Wall and put ‘Air Time Hog‘ I’d say he’d have a valid excuse.

Lets be honest, this was a bad move. I know I’m bias because we lost our Star Narrator of the year but for all the reasons listed above, Michaela was nothing but a Target coming into next weeks Merge. A factor that Michaela knew herself and for that very reason would’ve been loyal to Will, Hannah and (most importantly) Jay going forward.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

This betrayal also particular stings because Jay is one of favourites. Perhaps not the favourite because major Adam-Love here but now with the Merge here, he is the biggest target going in. G’ah! Cue another of my favourites going home.

At least Michaela didn’t blow his spot with The Hidden Immunity Idol. Bullet well and truly dodged there mate.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “The Truth Works Well”

For a show-Mance that dominated much of this seasons front half, Figgy’s elimination has clearly divided season 33 between the early game and the latter stages. Leaving contestants that have somewhat been over-looked to perhaps dominate going forward.

After being down in numbers on The Millennials Tribe, Zeke and Adam made moves that look to pay off, while Hannah – who had been missing for weeks now – suddenly came into focus as a nuisance for Michaela.

While Hannah probably did suck in the Immunity Challenge, Michaela losing her cool seemed unwise. Remember when Hannah begged someone to “use” her vote?

Michaela better hope that Hannah bares no ill-will for Challenge-shaming her this week.

Adam on the other hand had a dilemma. Vote off either one of Figg-Tails and run afoul of the Millennials wrath. Or take out Ken and run the risk of upsetting the Survivorcasuals.

Tricky-Tricky

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Of course voting off Figgs was the right move here. Even if Michaela voiced her opinion at the end of the Immunity Challenge that Millennials need to keep their numbers. I don’t where she thinks she is in the Tri-Force Alliance but she seems late on the update that the game has changed.

While Adam ultimately choose to go with Ken and Jess, leaving Tails out in the cold. We also got hints over on the new Vanau Tribe that Zeke plans to Bro-down with Gen-X David and Chris.

His decision to turn his back on Michelle would be proved correct when Figgy was delighted to see her Millennial gal-pal had survived the last vote.

Oh she was happy to see Zeke too … but, you know, she “loves” Michelle apparently. And who can blame her when she saved her butt in week 2.

Damn you Michelle, I’m still salty.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Anyway, that not-so subtle hint that Zeke perhaps was at the bottom of his previous Tribe didn’t escape him. But how he didn’t realise this after Mari got blindsided I do not know. But still, with Adam and Zeke making alliances with people outside the age-divide, has me convinced that these pair are the ones to watch going forward.

With Idols floating around however we may be in for a bumpy ride. And with Jay finding Ikabulas Hidden Immunity it now means there are three Idols now in play.

And with Michaela promising to keep her mouth shut (for now) after she walked in on Jay and Will celebrating. Our favourite narrator may have just fallen into the power position come the Merge.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

I can’t wait!

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Idol Search Party”

Yes! finally. After that Tribe Submit fake-out from a few weeks back we reach the halfway point for any Survivor season. The Tribe Swap, or should that be Tribe Expansion? Maybe a Tribe Swap-Sion?

I don’t think that’ll catch on.

Regardless the name, we now have Three Tribes, which not only means we have to eventually learn the True Millennials & Gen-X Tribes names – good luck with that one – but we also finally we see the back of ‘Age Wars’.

And I couldn’t be happier.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Now don’t get me wrong, contrary to my Survivor Off-season bias towards the tag-line to this season. The actuality of having two Tribes separated by Generational lines had its upside, mainly with how fun the Millennials castaways turned out to be. With Jay, Michelle, Zeke and Adam proving not only their strategic-chops but giving us compelling characters that have become the central focus midway through this season.

But damn, time spent with Gen-X was rough. Thank God for David’s terrible gameplay is all I’ve got to say on that matter.

So back to our new Tribes.

With Ken and Jessica uniting at the beginning of the episode, their newly formed Alliance was soon put to the test when Fig-Tails and Adam joined the new Takali (Gen-X) Tribe. Down in the numbers it didn’t take Ken long to form a bond with Adam, who coyly opened his craw about Figgy and Taylor being in the majority Alliance back on the Millennial Tribe.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Of course Kind-Ken told Adam that he was good with him and Jess which could mean that Figgy’s days in the game are number. Which I beg, please-please-please make it next week because honestly I don’t think I can put-up with this showmance much longer. Its not only because its terrible strategy – sorry Taylor, but it is – it just isn’t compelling TV to watch two (granted) hot people macking on each other.

As Michaela told us “That’s disgusting!”

What an episode for Michaela. Just last week I was singing her praises so it warms the cockles of my heart to see her stand-out. And on a swap-episode no less. Which given the numerous new dynamics the Survivor Producers have to establish. It’s a hard thing to achieve.

But things didn’t get off to the best of starts for the Grade-A narrator of the Season.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

With her picking the Green Buff alongside Jay, Will, Hannah, Bret and Sunday. It meant that this years Angkor Tribe would have to move to a new camp and start from scratch. A prospect that even the ever hopeful Jay couldn’t see the upside in, even though the Millennials have the numbers advantage in the new Ikabula Tribe.

Unlike the terrible Angkor Tribe from Survivor Cambodia. Ikabula would go on to win their first Immunity Challenge followed closely by Takali which meant that David would once again face Tribal Council.

Good thing he found that Hidden Immunity Idol again right?

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

For what was overall a strong episode of Survivor, was anyone really surprised that CeCe went home? Although granted she was part of the Ken & David Alliance, most – if not all – of her story was told by proxy of the aforementioned men. So when CeCe’s spike in confessionals went up this episode, so did the likelihood that she would go home even though the Producers tried their damnedest to throw Michelle out there.

So far Millennials Vs Gen-X has proven (in spite of the horrible title) that it is a strong season with many of the weaker players (sans Mari of course) being eliminated early on. Which is often a hallmark of a great season.

Lets hope Survivors hot-streak continues.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Whose The Sucker At The Table?”

Who would’ve predicted that Pirate Paul’s departure last week would create such a fracas in the Gen-X Tribe?

Chris got a J’Tia-lite confessional (stay away from that Rice man), Jessica bounced to the bottom of the totem pole, Sunday was … there, and purple Lucy finally got a confessional. Which immediately signalled to seasoned Survivor viewers that she was tonight’s boot.

With a little help from David of course.

Oh David. Again, my love for you endures but damn you are determined to put me through the emotional wringer aren’t you. While this episode was a cacophony of bad moves from Lucy generally stepping into the limelight and demanding blind-loyalty from Ken. For he-to-then-go against her and tell Jessica that she was on the chopping block.

David playing his Idol to save Jessica was on another level.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

While I can see where narcotic David is coming from, essentially gaining loyalty through saving a possible alley for he, Ken and CeCe’s alliance. Playing your Hidden Immunity Idol Pre-Merge exposes how Wolfie your game is. Granted his actions in episode 1 has already convey his hap-hazard approach to Survivor Strategy, so maybe he is so out in the open now he could be considered “safe” by the other players. Which defiantly increases his Goat-tential and subsequent staying-power in the game.

But putting all your eggs in the Jessica basket seems fool-hardy to me. Especially when Jessica has proven for is an Alliance flight risk.

Just ask Paul.

With Gen-X offering strategic (bad) moves aplenty. Over on Millennial island they were having fun Goat hunting. Yes you read that right. Goat Hunting.

I have to say watching a majority of the Tribe traipsing up that hill with machetes aloft their heads was comedic gold. Not only did it give Survivor Producers a chance to hammer-home the ‘Free Spirit‘ living that Millennials embrace via a Jay confessional. It also gave us a rest-bite from the insufferable Show-mance that has dominated much of the Millennials airtime thus far.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

It also gave my other fave Castaway Adam a chance to find the Hidden Immunity Idol and build upon his character on the show.

I have to admit, I’m a sucker for a sob-story on Survivor. And although this was no Andrew Savage has a hot wife sob-fest, this was still pretty good.

When Mari was voted out in week 2 it was Zeke and Hannah’s interactions that dominated the immediate aftermath. Although Adam got a strong confessional about working his way up from the bottom, it has taken until now to see any real character from Adam besides being Zeke’s counterpart. It may be too soon to say ‘Winners Edit’ but … Winner’s Edit.

Give me Adam and David in the finals and my tiny little mind will explode.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Before I go I would be re-missed not to mention Michaela in the Reward Challenge. Not because she got her “Ta-Tas” out – mind out the gutter people – but because right now, I’m living for Michaela’s Confessionals.

Not unlike Cydney Gillon last season, I would be shocked if Michaela isn’t invited back anytime soon.

Make it happen CBS!

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Your Job Is Recon”

Well that was a bit of a Tease. All the build up for last weeks “Twist” only to be let down by a Survivor Submit, oh sorry, a #SurvivorSubmit.

I couldn’t have been the only one to predict a swap into Three Tribes – which may well happen some ways down the line – but dare I say, this was still really good.

With the Millennials having to send dimwitted Taylor (aka Tails), Figgy, Will and Jay to meet the representatives of Gen-X. It gave the ousted Trio of CeCe, Ken and David a chance to change their future in the game, while Paul creepily asked if their were any “boyfriends and girlfriends” going on at the youngsters camp.

*shudders*

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Although my love for David is unwavering, admitting to a Blonde Lothario that you’d turn on your Tribe at the Merge perhaps maybe wasn’t the best move. Considering the plus for gaining numbers at that point is severely outweighed when you come to realise you at the bottom of the alliance.

Good for David for ‘Playing the game‘ but at this point I’m under no illusions that David can win however. Sticking with Ken means he will just be Stephened-out at the Final Tribal Council. But joining Tails and the Triforce doesn’t seem much smarter either.

Best outcome is anything that keeps him on my Tv screen the longest and Taylor doesn’t seem the best choice.

Survivor Millennials Vs Gen X

But what a coming out party for Ken. For a guy that barely poked his head above the canopy last week, this episode … you couldn’t shut him up.

For all the moments that our Model with a heart of gold had, there were plenty of times that he straddled the edge of arrogance. Lucky for him these were contrasted with Dodo shots of Paul saying his going to do something only to fail. Kinda like a more incompetent Rupert, which given Rupert is … well … Rupert. Thats saying something. So when you’re putting down a guy that stupidly tells Pink-Eye Jessica (how she shall forever be known) that should Bret, Chris and himself decide to go their own way he’d tell the girls “Good Luck“.

Ken really isn’t the asshole in that situation.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

After disappearing last week I’m glad to see that Jessica gets the credit for Paul’s blindside here.

Sure she has this Legacy Advantage so even if she goes out early we have to see her nurture bonds with whomever she ‘wills’ it too (morbid much?). But Jessica is slowly proving that she is a real contender to go far. Astutely picking up on what Paul was unwittingly revealing (#FreudianSlip), she took the chance to get rid of a future turncoat knowing that David, Ken and CeCe would be more than happy to throw their votes on him.

Sure she runs the risk of pissing off her close allies of Bret and Chris. But I have more fair in her skills to placate the pair than what Millennial Hannah has.

Oh Hannah.

survivor-millenials-vs-gen-x

Lets be clear here. Hannah may have voted out my Winner pick Mari (still Salty) but it was absolutely the right decision. The problem is when the injured party tells you to go away, staying put and playing the victim – sorry Han but yeah you were – only further alienates both parties.

Judging by Adam‘s willingness to approach her later on in the episode, show that things were more than likely smoothed over by that point. I still can’t dislodge this unnerving feeling that the Triforce has Hannah, Will and Michaela on lockdown.

Damn … they so pretty.

The ‘Survivor: Millennials Vs Gen-X’ Review – “Love Goggles”

Salty“. Yep … That’s pretty much the best way to describe how I’m feeling right now. Trust Gamer Legend Mari to appropriately sum up the dying cries of Millennial fans everywhere.

Hyperbolic? Maybe but in the little time she had on-screen, Mari was turning into Narration-Gold.

Not to snipe the ending to this review. But given that Paul’sheart attack‘ teased last week was a fake-out. Let’s focus on the dark horse of the pre-season. Michelle.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

For a girl I had written off as a member of the ‘cool kids‘ alliance. Michelle has her ducks laid out and is sniping from behind. Not a so-called member of the Triforce, she is however a trusted ear for both Jay and Figgy. Two members of the team that seemingly are connected through Bro-Taylor than anything else.

Should Michelle look to go far, she better beat the Snowboarding instructor to the punch, and snuff his torch before he wises up.

I think she has awhile.

When it comes time though it should be easy enough given her back-up alliance of Will and Hannah. The later who was literally convinced to vote for her friend at Tribal Council by Michelle.

Maybe that Rat-Tail is a Jedi Braid after all.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

Not to leave the Gen-Xers out in the cold. The Golden Oldies had some tricks up their sleeves, especially given the unlikely partnership of narcotic David and Model Ken.

Or the Stephen & JT of Fiji.

Oh David. Have I mentioned my love for David? Perhaps but if my heart bleeds for the departure of Mari at least knowing David has an Idol in his back-pocket gives me some sense of security. For the time being at least.

This was a great episode for the other dark horse Ken. Considering he was on the oust alongside CeCe and First-Boot Rachel in the Premiere episode. It was nice to see his take on  the dominate Paul Alliance, and it was shockingly empathetic.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

If last years Winner Michelle Fitzgerald’s game taught us anything, is that the Social Game in Survivor should not be underestimated. Yes strategic moves gets me in the naughty spots but seeing Ken relate to David on a human level, relating to the days that he himself was an outsider, was heart warming. But better still should pay-off for the Model in the long run. I mean – not for nothing – David trusted Ken enough to show him his Hidden Immunity Idol. A move in Survivor that more often than not solidifies an Alliance to the bitter end.

survivor-millennials-vs-gen-x

I’ve got to be honest. Hearing Jeff Probst during the pre-season hype described how the Idols this year were “Hidden in Nature” and could “Look like a Shell“, I was out on the idea. But I have to say, I think Probst buried the lead with this one.

When David spotted that Coconut with a simple painted logo on it – without any clue – it was elegant in its simplicity. Sure we knew that David was looking for the idol but when he spotted that Coconut and cracked it open. It could have been just a clue for all we knew.

Dare I say it. Have the Survivor Producers made the search for the Hidden Immunity Idol fun again?
